Chapter 1
The Child
Golden eyes gazed upon them as they held such a holy child, borne of a union that had not been granted right to exist but existed regardless. I bore not opinion towards it, for I know not what opinion is. Command, is what I was made to follow. And command I would recieve in this moment, as my creator turned to me with the babe in their magnificent arms. My creator spoke to me very little, but today would be one of those few days where they would.
"You."
Their voice was filled with endless power as they addressed me, one of their few creations made to serve their will.
"Take him." Their expression shifted to something I've seen more and more often during the rare moments I was granted in their presence. I knew not the cause of whatever caused them to shift in such an unusual manner, but I would never dare to ask. I obeyed their command, taking the babe from my creator as their expression furthered into that unusual look.
"You will be in charge of raising him and any others my parter may bare," they spoke firmly, yet their words wavered. I merely nodded, clutching the babe tighter in my arms.
Soon after, another one like me entered the room, seemingly summonded by the creator as well. "They will aid you in this task," my creater announced to the both of us. I turned towards the other. They were paler than me, yet seemed more lively, despite their silence. It unnerved me, no one should come off like that, especially not one of their creations.
"What are we to refer the child as?" The other creation inquired. It made me ill. How dare they speak out of turn- How did they know to utilize their vocal cords in such a manner?
My- our creator seemed to not be bothered, so I didn't allow my ill feels to be show.
"He will be called Vaughn," our creator decided.
"And us?" The other pressed, increasing my discomfort tenfold as our creator fell into thought.
Our creator pointed at them. "You shall be Fin." Our creator then turned from "Fin" to me.
"And you.." They thought for a few moments more. "Seraph."
"Seraph and Fin," the one known as "Fin" muttered, looking to me with a glint in their eyes. I didn't speak, I just continued to hold the babe in my arms.
"You will raise the babe in the west towers. You are dismissed." Our creator then turned from us, and before I could even blink they were gone.
"Fin" turned to me, a smile upon their face.
"Shall we go?"
Blessed Lies
Sleep was peaceful. Far more than I would expect, but it was. It gives me a break from the thoughts than ran through my mind endlessly while I try to accomplish simple tasks. I've found I rest even better with him by my side. A demon to some, an angel to me.
Asher.
He was beautiful, and I was a beast compared to him. I let him make the decisions for the both of us, for why should I take that from him. It was easier for me too, he could simply tell me what the plan was for the day and I'd do whatever he said loyaly. I remember each word he mutters, and treat him as if he is on his way to grace.
In a way, that is what he aimed for. To become divine, equal to the gods that many claimed existed. I can't say I share the same ideas with the others in this village, but it matters not. If there is a god let it be Asher, and let me become his disciple.
